‘Millions’ of Frogs Force Closure of Highway in Greece - Wheels Blog - NYTimes.com
As if the political and economic tumult wasn’t enough to rattle the people of Greece, little frogs — “millions,’ according to the police chief of Thessaloniki, Giorgos Thanoglou — closed one of the country’s major highways for more than two hours on Wednesday, according to The Associated Press.

How Is Your Pension Looking?

FOXBusiness.com - The Next Bailout: $165B for Unions

A Democratic senator is introducing legislation for a bailout of troubled union pension funds. If passed, the bill could put another $165 billion in liabilities on the shoulders of American taxpayers.

The bill, which would put the Pension Benefit Guarantee Corporation behind struggling pensions for union workers, is being introduced by Senator Bob Casey, (D-Pa.), who says it will save jobs and help people.

Comments: Things are tough. We are all in this together except Government and Union workers. They seem protected by our government. Are you getting sick of this crap? When the government decides "some" need help they take it from those who "don't" need help. So the guy who worked for lower wages or ran a business or was in management has to give to the union/government Mafioso. What if the we lose our job or business? No help for you. All in a day's work.

Syria has 1,000 ballistic missiles zeroed on Israeli targets

DEBKAfile, Political Analysis, Espionage, Terrorism, Security
The colossal Syrian-Hizballah missile deployment funded by Iran points in only one direction: Israel. It is controlled from a joint Iran-Syria-Hizballah-Hamas command center established in March at Syrian GHQ in Damascus for attacking Israeli military and civilian sites organized in four sectors.
Syria's production lines have been humming for five months converting its missiles from liquid-fuel to the more accurate solid-fuel ballistic missiles with the help of North Korean experts.

Comments: Unless Israel is forced into some deal by the Pro-Palestinian Obama Administration, the world is in for a major blow up. I suspect that instead of forcing Israel into a capitulating corner and thereby placating Muslims into accepting a divided Jerusalem, the Muslims will be unable to resist going for the gold by attacking Israel with their new armaments. Politically cornered and missile devastated, Israel's response may be life changing for all of us. There may be a more sophisticated chess match going on but in this case the pawns have minds and emotions of their own. If Hamas and Hizballah believe their own braggadocio, things will get interesting.

"Bitter Half On Court Ordered Inactive Status" (And why have we not heard this?)

The Left - Watch What They Do, Not What They Say !: Michelle Obama Loses Law License

Did you know that our First Lady Michelle Obama lost her law license back in 1993? Oh sure I knew that, “NOT.” Sure, I saw this on the front page of the New York Times during the elections of 2008, “NOT.” I've listed below from the State of Illinois’s website of the court action against Michelle forcing her to give up her license. It’s understood that in the box attacked below under Malpractice Insurance – “No malpractice report required as attorney is under court order inactive status.”

Admit it, this is at least interesting.

Whatever Germany does, the euro as we know it is dead

Whatever Germany does, the euro as we know it is dead - Telegraph
By any legitimate measure, Greece was unworthy of eurozone membership. That it achieved card-carrying status was down to the sleight-of-hand skills of its Brussels fixers and the acquiescence of central bank bean-counters. Now we know the truth, jet-hosing it with yet more debt makes no sense. Another dose of funny money will delay but not extinguish the need for austerity.

A Rational View of Immigration

The "Have Not's" will always aspire to acquire the "Have's" possessions. This need not be an ignoble endevor. Learn what the Have's did to earn their wealth and position and emulate it. But too many Have Not's seek to attain the Have's position without bothering with Have behavior. Simply they want to steal it. The Have Not's rationalize that the Have's attained their position by some nefarious or unfair means. This allows the Have Not's to, on the one hand, justify being a "have not". On the other hand the Have Not must rationalize not going to the bother and effort of emulating the Have's activity and philosophy which enabled the Have's to have in the first place. So the Have Not's will steal Mr. Have's possessions (because the Have Not's outnumber the Have's) without understanding the procedures necessary to maintain having. Everyone becomes poorer in the process.

This is an ancient tradition and part of the human condition. We will never be rid of it.

Let's hear from the Have Not's

Is This For Real? She Sounds Serious.

The mayor of LA just said illegal immigrants were the force behind California's economy (such as it is). So I suppose this lady has a political future, great minds think alike.

I finally can explain that mysterious logic that I find so facinating.

Comments: I remember the school days. We would race to the bus and you would be two rows from that cherished back row and some bully would yell from the school steps ... "I dib the back seat". You know that even if you take the seat first, you are in for a fight. The bully will find irrefutable logic in the fact that he had "dibs" on the seat. To him it is a rule of law. He has probably even convinced himself of the righteousness of his position. In reality it comes down to bullying and stealing. Sound familiar? It is now a religious/governmental structure.

Laura Bush Loves The Thought Of Elena Kegan

So Laura just loves the thought of more women on the court. Or does she especially love a liberal woman on the court. I'm not sure what this Bush woman is doing. Do they really need to pick up a few extra bucks on a new book? Maybe she is carving out something of her own. But to me she appears more stupid and ridiculous at every new opportunity. I've heard of empty suits so I guess empty dresses are equally possible. Please, just shut up and put out to pasture. Maybe Lady Laura has spotted an opening on "The View". How can conservative men (was he really conservative?) endure these liberal women? Sex I guess. I doubt it is worth it. She didn't say much during the presidency and I thought she was just the strong silent type, keeping her discourse simple and not controversial. Good job of hiding the true shallowness of this moron, Republican Party. No wonder there is a Tea Party looking for better representation. I am so happy to have this entire Bush 1-2-(no 3 please) behind us. Remember "voodoo economics"? I have come to believe Jesse Jackson was right for once, by accident, "keep out the Bushes". If another Bush personally offers me money to vote for him, I will not do it. I think the entire Bush "compassionate conservative" deception is being revealed through the vapid tripe of this woman.

No link yet, too new.

Laura Bush Supports Gay Marriage, Abortion - ABC News

In response to a question about gay marriage, she said, "There are a lot of people who have trouble coming to terms with that because they see marriage as traditionally between a man and a woman. But I also know that, you know, when couples are committed to each other and love each other, that they ought to have, I think, the same sort of rights that everyone has."

Mrs. Bush said she and the ex-president "disagree" on legalizing same-sex marriage.

...

The ex-first lady also told King she believes abortion should remain legal, an opinion she suggested she held on the President Bush's first day in office in 2001.

Comments: I will have many things for which to answer on the day I stand before the Seat of Judgment. Which is why the blood of Christ covering our sins is such a big deal (in Christianese). We all have our own issues. Many believe all sins are the same but others break them into more or less severe with corresponding consequences. I guess it depends on your flavor of "Christianity". But in the recesses of my mind, I am glad the one sin I will not have to negotiate (in the event negotiations arise) is killing or supporting the killing of babies. Maybe it's just me but that sounds like a good one to avoid.

Again we are reminded that, who we think we are sending to that great white house is likely to be, in reality, vastly different than the person of our propaganda shaped imaginations.

Netanyahu turns to Bible in tussle over Jerusalem

Netanyahu turns to Bible in tussle over Jerusalem - Yahoo! Singapore News

Citing such ancestry, Israel calls all of Jerusalem its "eternal and indivisible" capital -- a designation not recognised abroad, where many powers support Arab claims to East Jerusalem as the capital of a future Palestinian state.

The dispute is further inflamed by the fact East Jerusalem houses al-Aqsa mosque, Islam's third-holiest shrine, on a plaza that Jews revere as the vestige of two biblical Jewish temples.

Heckled by a lawmaker from Israel's Arab minority, Netanyahu offered a lesson in comparative religion from the lectern.

"Because you asked: Jerusalem is mentioned 142 times in the New Testament, and none of the 16 various Arabic names for Jerusalem is mentioned in the Koran. But in an expanded interpretation of the Koran from the 12th century, one passage is said to refer to Jerusalem," he said.

Responding to Netanyahu's citations, Palestinian chief negotiator Saeb Erekat said: "I find it very distasteful, this use of religion to incite hatred and fear. East Jerusalem is an occupied Palestinian town, and East Jerusalem cannot continue to be occupied if there is to be peace."

Comments:
I understand Netanyahu's logic. Arab/Palestinian thinking always feels like a Saturday Night Live episode to me.

Foreign Holidays In The USA?

Students booted from school for wearing American flag T-shirts; Roger Ebert proposes solution | Top of the Ticket | Los Angeles Times
Five kids attending Live Oak High School in Morgan Hill, Calif., decided to wear patriotic clothing (T-shirts and bandannas with the American flag on them) on Cinco de Mayo. Assistant Principal Miguel Rodriguez told them that the clothing was inappropriate for the holiday and to ditch the bandannas and turn their shirts inside out or go home.

Checking Valid SSN illegal?

iOwnTheWorld.com » Blog Archive » Unintended Consequences
Here is an article that appeared in a Texas newspaper a year ago. Some would say that reporting these facts is racist.

UPDATE: Here is a comment by Grandpa that has been moved to the head of the class:

Relating to illegal immigrants this is my true real world experience. As an employer in a previously tough economic time for entry level help, I used to hire approximately 100 workers annually due to turnover and general attrition. One of the challenges was determining the legal employment status. Each year beginning around 2003 I would get an email list of “mismatched” social security numbers, created by the IRS cross referencing the I-9 hiring documents, with the W-2’s I would generate and submit. It turns out that I unknowingly employed illegal aliens.

This occurs because they present social security cards, drivers licenses and hiring documents that are phony during the hiring process. The stuff looks real, but it is bogus.

However, when I attempted to pre-screen via background checks for employment eligibility through the SS office I was advised to stop due to it being an “illegal” hiring practice. It was explained to me that under federal employment law, I could not have a qualifer for employment that created a “disparate impact” upon applicants. By screening for valid social security numbers in advance, my employment screen disqualified a higher percentage of hispanics and latinos from employment. This is illegal because I could not discriminate based on race, or national origin, and my pre-employment verification created a disparate impact upon only hispanics. The vast majority of applicants with invalid SS #’s were hispanic origin so I was advised to discontinue employment verification or face an EEO (equal employment opportunity) lawsuit for discrimination.

No Prayer At Senior Center ... Protects Government Subsidy

Port Wentworth nixes prayer at senior center | savannahnow.com
Strict guidelines

Tim Rutherford, Senior Citizens Inc. vice president, said some of his staff recently visited the center and noticed people praying shortly before lunch was served. Rutherford said his company provides meals like baked chicken, steak tips and rice and salads at a cost of about $6 a plate. Seniors taking the meals pay 55 cents and federal money foots the rest of the bill, Rutherford said.

"We can't scoff at their rules," he said of federal authorities. "It's a part of the operational guidelines."

Rutherford said the moment of silence was introduced to protect that funding. He said although the change may have been misinterpreted, perhaps his company could have done a better job selling it.

"It's interpreted that we're telling people that they can't pray, but we aren't saying that," he said. "We're asking them to pray to themselves. Have that moment of silence."

OK, you can pray but not out loud. This is simply common sense separation of church and state. Who could complain about that? Are you anti government? Just settle down, the government knows what is best for you, especially when it involves things like prayer and thought and speaking.

How spoiled nations throw tantrums

Europe Crisis Deepens As Chaos Grips Greece - WSJ.com

At the same time, tens of thousands of protesters marched through Athens in the largest and most violent protests since the country's budget crisis began last fall. Angry youths rampaged through the center of Athens, torching several businesses and vehicles and smashing shop windows. Protesters and police clashed in front of parliament and fought running street battles around the city.

Witnesses said hooded protesters smashed the front window of Marfin Bank in central Athens and hurled a Molotov cocktail inside. The three victims died from asphyxiation from smoke inhalation, the Athens coroner's office said. Four others were seriously injured there, fire department officials said.

Comments: When socialists get into financial trouble do they cut back, budget, and put their noses to the grindstone? Nope, they riot and refuse to give up anything. This is humanity at work and not nationality specific. Maybe your definition of "socialist" does not fit perfectly so you flop around and cry foul about calling Europe socialist. You might say you lived in Soviet Russia and know all about socialism and this or that is not socialist. If big government is handing out, controlling or otherwise in charge of your income, benefits or sustenance, then you are socialist, plain and simple. Please, call it anything you wish. A shark is a fish and a piranha is a fish, they are both fish. One is big, one is small, they both eat you.

Security slip let suspect on plane

Security slip let suspect on plane, near takeoff - Yahoo! News: "WASHINGTON – The no-fly list failed to keep the Times Square suspect off the plane. Faisal Shahzad had boarded a jetliner bound for the United Arab Emirates Monday night before federal authorities pulled him back.
The night's events, gradually coming to light, underscored the flaws in the nation's aviation security system, which despite its technologies, lists and information sharing, often comes down to someone making a right call.
As federal agents closed in, Faisal Shahzad was aboard Emirates Flight 202. He reserved a ticket on the way to John F. Kennedy International Airport, paid cash on arrival and walked through security without being stopped. By the time Customs and Border Protection officials spotted Shahzad's name on the passenger list and recognized him as the bombing suspect they were looking for, he was in his seat and the plane was preparing to leave the gate.
But it didn't. At the last minute, the pilot was notified, the jetliner's door was opened and Shahzad was taken into custody."
