Tax Brackets (Federal Income Tax Rates) 2000 through 2009 and 2010

Tax Brackets (Federal Income Tax Rates) 2000 through 2009 and 2010: "Your tax bracket is the rate you pay on the 'last dollar' you earn; but as a percentage of your income, your tax rate is generally less than that. First, here are the tax rates and the income ranges where they apply:"

288,000 homes seized in quarter - Washington Times

288,000 homes seized in quarter - Washington Times: "Lenders seized more U.S. homes this summer than in any three-month stretch since the housing market began to bust in 2006. But many of the foreclosures may be challenged in court later because of allegations that banks evicted people without reading the documents.

A total of 288,345 properties were lost to foreclosure in the July-September quarter, according to data released Thursday by RealtyTrac Inc., a foreclosure listing service. That's up from nearly 270,000 in the second quarter, the previous high point in the firm's records dating back to 2005."

Comments: Do any of us know where this is heading? Is it wise to prepare by getting out of debt even if one is currently solvent? I think so. Debt is a killer in economic downturns and we may have further to go. Being out of debt is always good anyway.

Economic Thoughts (from somewhere)

1. You cannot legislate the poor into prosperity by legislating the wealthy out of prosperity.

2. What one person receives without work, another person must work for without receiving.

3, The government cannot give to anybody anything that the government does not first take from somebody else.

4. When half of the people get the idea that they do not have to work because the other half is going to take care of them, and when the other half gets the idea that it does no good to work, because somebody else is going to get what they work for, that my dear friend, is the beginning of the end of any nation

5. You cannot multiply wealth by dividing it.

Another iTunes Only Podcast Mistake

Why do these people think everyone in the world uses iTunes? I will never fall prey to evil Apple's web of revenue. If there is some way to easily download these iTunes type podcasts, I do not know it.

Sometimes I get so aggravated I severe all contact with these sites, call me cranky. I am deleting by bookmark and rss feed tracker now. If the world comes to an end I will just have to find out another way. Hey, I warned them.

OK Elinore, what do you have to say about this?

Tea Parties Bullish for Economy -- 'Don't Believe the Mainstream Media'

The Lawyers' Party

American Thinker: The Lawyers' Party: "The Lawyers' Party
By Bruce Walker
The Democratic Party has become the Lawyers' Party. Barack Obama and Hillary Clinton are lawyers. Bill Clinton and Michelle Obama are lawyers. John Edwards, the other former Democrat candidate for president, is a lawyer and so is his wife Elizabeth. Every Democrat nominee since 1984 went to law school (although Gore did not graduate.) Every Democrat vice presidential nominee since 1976, except for Lloyd Bentsen, went to law school. Look at the Democrat Party in Congress: the Majority Leader in each house is a lawyer.

The Republican Party is different. President Bush and Vice President Cheney were not lawyers, but businessmen. The leaders of the Republican Revolution were not lawyers. Newt Gingrich was a history professor; Tom Delay was an exterminator; and Dick Armey was an economist. House Minority Leader Boehner was a plastic manufacturer, not a lawyer. The former Senate Majority Leader Bill Frist is a heart surgeon.

Who was the last Republican president who was a lawyer? Gerald Ford, who left office thirty-one years ago and who barely won the Republican nomination as a sitting president, running against Ronald Reagan in 1976. The Republican Party is made up of real people doing real work"

Comments: Did you hear the one about the lawyer who was the only lawyer in town and going broke until ....?

Get ready for break-up of Belgium: top minister | Radio Netherlands Worldwide

Get ready for break-up of Belgium: top minister | Radio Netherlands Worldwide: "Leading francophone Socialist Laurette Onkelinx, considered a potential successor to party chief Elio Di Rupo, who gave up on negotiations with separatist Flemish leaders on Friday, gave her prognosis in a newspaper interview.

'Let's hope it doesn't come to that because if we split, it will be the weakest who will pay the heaviest price,' she told La Derniere Heure. 'On the other hand, we can no longer ignore that among a large part of the Flemish population, it's their wish.

'So yes, we have to get ready for the break-up of Belgium. Otherwise we're cooked."

Comments: At some point we need a boarder. If not now, when? OK we could give up California (and maybe Oregon) but after that we should put our foot down. Please elect Jerry Brown, he will fit in nicely with the new (old) reality.

Nasca Lines may be giant map of underground water sources

201008304946 | Nasca Lines may be giant map of underground water sources: "American researcher David Johnson has advanced a theory that Nasca Lines may be related to water. He thinks that the geoglyphs may be a giant map of the underground water sources traced on the land.
The Nasca Lines are located in the Peruvian desert, about 200 miles south of Lima. The assortment of perfectly-straight lines lies in an area measuring 37 miles long and 1-mile wide.

The Nasca plain is one of the driest places on Earth, getting less than one inch of rain a year. So, when Johnson started his research in 1995, he became aware of the scarcity of water in the region and the effect that this had on agricultural production and the quality of life.

While looking for sources of water, he noticed that ancient aqueducts, called puquios, seemed to be connected with some of the lines."

Obama's Economy

Let's summarize. Lower taxes during the previous administration caused our economic problems. Policies for easy real estate pushed by Democrats and opposed by Republicans are never mentioned. Why are people not buying this line of baloney? Because it is baloney.

More money flowing into the government by higher taxes (while the economy shrinks) will benefit middle America. Baloney.

Oh, and job growth lag during the last economic expansion was due to low taxes, too. It had nothing to do with outsourcing business models. Baloney. Just why do businesses outsource? If it saves money, businesses do it. Taxes have nothing to do with it.

Either this guy does not understand economics or the truth would not be advantageous to his political agenda or both. Yes, Yes, he is soooo smart, but then liberals always are (according to liberals).

Listening to this guy is a hear tearing experience.

BBC had "massive bias to left:" director general

BBC had "massive bias to left:" director general: "The director general of the BBC admitted Thursday that his organisation had been guilty of a 'massive bias to the left' but said 'a completely different generation' of journalists now works at the broadcaster.
Mark Thompson told the right-of-centre Spectator magazine that there was an institutional bias when he joined the organisation, reinforcing the findings of a 2007 internal report which concluded that greater efforts were required to avoid liberal bias.

'In the BBC I joined 30 years ago, there was, in much of current affairs, in terms of people's personal politics, which were quite vocal, a massive bias to the left,' Thompson said."

Comments: I am shocked - shocked I tell you. Did you have any idea the BBC has a history of left leaning political agendas?

Stephen Hawking: God was not needed to create the Universe - Telegraph

Stephen Hawking: God was not needed to create the Universe - Telegraph: "In June this year Prof Hawking told a Channel 4 series that he didn't believe that a 'personal' God existed. He told Genius of Britain: 'The question is: is the way the universe began chosen by God for reasons we can't understand, or was it determined by a law of science? I believe the second. If you like, you can call the laws of science 'God', but it wouldn't be a personal God that you could meet, and ask questions.'"

Comments: Prof. Hawking wants to make it perfectly clear (before he goes to meet his maker) that Prof. Hawking does not believe in a maker. I suppose God gets the message. Good luck with that Prof. Hawking. Of course the Hawk has no better idea of how the universe came into being than how to get up out of his chair. But I give him marks for boldness.

Glenn Beck Christianity

PASTOR KEN SILVA ON VIEW FROM THE BUNKER PODCAST : Apprising Ministries
LOVE HIM or hate him, there’s no denying the syndicated radio and Fox News host Glenn Beck, a Mormon, has become the de facto spokesman for conservative Christians in America.

But his “Restoring Honor” rally at the Lincoln Memorial yesterday shows that his call for political change has morphed into a call for revival:

Comments: I like Glenn Beck and I think he is right on in many areas. Glenn (may I call you Glenn?) has liberalism/progressivism nailed. He is right on in seeing our problems as spiritual in root. But the Mormon's Jesus is not a Christian one. Does that make a difference? Well, yes it does if you take the Bible literally (no God does not have feathers). The Bible does have metaphor within it but you know what I mean. So the more Glenn "preaches" the more cautious I get. Christian's are embracing a Glenn Beck theology with undiscerning fervor.

The PID interview mentioned above is worth a listen if you also are questioning the theology of our new and current "gospels".

Those In Power

Yes, "those in power". In the U.S.A we liked to think of ourselves as not having a "ruling class". We don't need no stinking queen. But people love to be led and ruled it seems, so without much general complaint, we have gradually succumbed to a ruling class. Some of these "rulers" are in Congress, Presidential Cabinet and likely places. But many are hidden within leadership roles inside our the ever expanding bureaucracies and within academia. Yes, writing grants and receiving grant money is hard work but the just reward of today's royal blood. We commoners should be thanking them.

Big Huge Discussion on Young/Old Earth

Is There Really Scientific Evidence for a Young Earth?
For the past several decades, the question of the age of the Earth has been a very divisive one among Christians. Many people (known as "Young-Earth Creationists") believe that the only valid interpretation of the Bible indicates that the Earth is 10,000 years old or less, and they also claim to have scientific evidence that supports this view of the Earth. At the same time, there are many others who believe that scientific evidence overwhelmingly supports the claim that the Earth is about 4.6 billion years old, while the Universe as a whole is 10 to 20 billion years old. Many people in this latter category affirm the intimate involvement of God in this process of creation.

Comment: Matthew Tiscareno's site has a ton of organized material on the young vs old earth debate. Mr. Tiscareno is Research Associate in the Department of Astronomy at Cornell University. He comes from an old earth perspective. This would be a good place to quickly reference some "this proves" item you hear and at least get the other side of a story.

Roseanne Barr Proves Again, Being Famous Does Not Make You Smart

Roseanne Barr: Nazi Leaders Hitler, Goebbels and Himmler Were Jewish | NewsBusters.org

Roseanne Barr on Friday said leaders of the Nazi Party such as Adolf Hitler, Joseph Goebbels, and Heinrich Himmler were all Jewish.

In the comedienne's latest anti-Semitic rant, she also claimed that many Palestinians are Jewish and were "driven out of their homes by a cheney-ized [sic] Judeo Christian Bushite America."

Further demonstrating her serious need for counseling, Barr said Nazi scientists "successfully created a mutant human--a hybrid of Jewish mentality and German Resolve, the Zionist."

Al Franken Busy Kissing Butt After Acting Out

Senate gets 'a little weird' - Manu Raju - POLITICO.com
When Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-Ky.) laid out his opposition to Elena Kagan’s Supreme Court nomination, someone in the chamber appeared to be moving around in his chair, gasping and rolling his eyes.

It was Al Franken.

After his speech, a very irritated McConnell removed his microphone, approached the dais and confronted the former comedian, who was presiding over the Senate.

“This isn’t ‘Saturday Night Live,’ Al,” McConnell sternly told the Minnesota Democrat, according to people who overheard the exchange.

Franken later apologized to McConnell, but this embarrassing exchange was seen by some as just the latest sign of the Senate’s dysfunction, the hardened partisan lines and maybe the fact that senators just need a little break from one another.

Live and Let Live

Briton held for wearing a bikini in Dubai shopping mall | Mail Online
A British holidaymaker has been charged with indecency in Dubai after walking through the world's largest shopping centre in a bikini.

The woman was buying clothes and gifts in the Dubai Mall, fully dressed but in a low-cut top, when she was accosted by an Arabic woman and criticised for wearing 'revealing clothing'.

Sharia is the goal of any good Muslim. So while we (who is that) are doing "live and let live" to our Muslim friends, they are heading for "live as we say". How does that work? Islam is not just another or alternate religion as we have normally viewed religions. We are headed for a ton of fun unless the secular Muslims win the day but as we see with Turkey, secular only lasts until fundamental/radical takes over in Muslim land. It will be the death of Hollywood but enough about the positives.

Fructose Adventures

Cancer cells feed on fructose, study finds - Health - Cancer - msnbc.com
WASHINGTON — Pancreatic tumor cells use fructose to divide and proliferate, U.S. researchers said on Monday in a study that challenges the common wisdom that all sugars are the same.

Tumor cells fed both glucose and fructose used the two sugars in two different ways, the team at the University of California Los Angeles found.

They said their finding, published in the journal Cancer Research, may help explain other studies that have linked fructose intake with pancreatic cancer, one of the deadliest cancer types.

I know, tomorrow it will be good for you. But the "good for you" never happens with fructose. Then there is the "in moderation" crowd. A little poison goes a long way.

Burning Down ‘The Shack’

P.I.D. Radio Live: Burning Down ‘The Shack’ | P.I.D. Radio
ONE OF the best-selling books aimed at Christians in recent years, The Shack presents a gospel that the Apostles of the first century would not have recognized.

Prof. James DeYoung, author of Burning Down ‘The Shack’: How the ‘Christian’ Bestseller is Deceiving Millions, talks about the deceptive, unbiblical doctrine of universal reconciliation and how it’s propelled The Shack to the top of the New York Times Best-Seller Lists.

I found "The Shack" to be an interesting emotional experience. I am however secure in my theology (in a shaky sort of way) and was not affected by the strange fire areas other than to be amused by them (is God a woman?). When we hear people swoon over now seeing or understanding God as never before after having read "The Shack", one does wonder what that means, exactly. Many want to be Christian out of tradition but have never "experienced" Christ in some "born again" fashion. Maybe that is behind all the mystery about what God is like. Whatever the reason people are drawn to "Shack", understanding its theological shortcomings is a good thing. This interview is a good one <link>. Hearing that the "Shack" author was a Universalist at some time comes as no surprise. The book shouts Universalism in a few spots. I heard Mr. Young speak and he disavous Universalism now.

The book has had unnatural success or one could say supernatural success. But supernatural has two sides and neither proves good nor evil. If you have succumbed to the prosperity gospel you are convinced it is good. That is another subject.

Dear Best Country in the World!

The people whom you so generously gave a gift of freedom want to warn you about a danger we foresee in your not-so-distant future. And the name of this danger is Socialism. It often hides under different disguises. Sometime it calls itself Progressivism, sometime Liberalism. The adepts call themselves Marxists, Maoists, Che Guevarists… however usually they do not want you to know what sect of Socialism they belong to.

The UN’s Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change misled the press and public into believing that thousands of scientists backed its claims on manmade global warming, according to Mike Hulme, a prominent climate scientist and IPCC insider. The actual number of scientists who backed that claim was “only a few dozen experts,” he states in a paper for Progress in Physical Geography, co-authored with student Martin Mahony.

Pay PaL Backs Down - Atlas Still Shrugs

Atlas Shrugs
As many of you know, on Friday of last week, my paypal account was "restricted." After a recent review of my account they said, "it has been determined" that I was "currently in violation of PayPal's Acceptable Use Policy. Under the Acceptable Use Policy, PayPal may not be used to send or receive payments for items that promote hate, violence, racial intolerance or the financial exploitation of a crime."

Huh?

I posted it over the weekend and received over a thousand letters of support, hundreds of ccs of paypal account cancellations........ the people spoke. Love that.

And so today, about an hour ago, a very pleasant and rather deliberately clueless executive called me from paypal to say it was all a big misunderstanding and Atlas would be reinstated (and the subsequent restriction of SIOA and FDI removed also).

Not so fast, Leslie.

Comments: Read on for Atlas' defiant post. Good for her. Sign up for Gpal (what can it hurt).

Obama - That Big Heart

Barack Obama announces $400m aid package to Gaza and West Bank | World news | The Guardian
President Barack Obama said today the US would send $400m of aid to the Palestinian territories following 10 days of international focus on Gaza, which Israel has blockaded for more than three years.

Comments: Way to go Barry, that will fix it. I'm sure they were short of MONEY. That's it money was the problem. And you have plenty of it don't you Barry. While we are at it let's find Arafat's money he made off with before the old goat died (may he rest where he deserves) from the continuous stream of funds flowing in from the US. Then mention again their rich "brothers", oh, Islam is such a religion of compassion and peace.

A growing meme of incompetency ascribes itself to the Presidency. Never has incompetency found a more deserving home.

The Road to Armageddon

Link to the Article

The article contains standard "news" like Barack Obama is a Moslem, well color me pick what a surprise. Did he really fool anyone but the main stream news media (and 50+% of the voters). My guess is he is more agnostic with a strong serving of Islamic culture, along with pixie dust and unicorn gas, flowing through his veins. We already understand his blame evil America position. No reasonably informed person can deny it. His associations and actions shout it from the roof of the White House. If you need a little bush up on BO's Muslimishness here is a quick run down.

But this little number is interesting.

Arab Knesset talking about "Armageddon". That would be in the NEW TESTAMENT. I guess they will use anything to rile up their constituencies. Coming from Arabs I wouldn't take much stock in it. Right, "one billion Muslims attack". Call the Pentagon and hire that Muslim logistic expert. What is it with these Eastern people and their outrageous propaganda statements. Who can forget Baghdad Bob's "We will crush them" statement while American tanks bore down on the capital. I guess you would have to be of that culture to filter through the baloney. Or maybe they can't filter. We in the West are not all that good at filtering BS (remember the last election). I guess the politicians have us figured out. There is a sucker born every minute.

It does present a nice clean look, I must say.

Boycott Israel - Support Jihad!

Helen Thomas the Harbinger

Chicago Boyz » Blog Archive » Helen Thomas the Harbinger
As the regional enemies of Israel have grown more and more brutal to everyone, even their own people, the western left has grown more and more hostile to Israel. They have to justify their support of the autocrats by increasingly smearing Israel. They can’t help themselves, because they act from self-centered emotion instead of dispassionate reason.

The left has created a trajectory for themselves that will quickly but inevitably lead all of them to voice the same views that forced Helen Thomas from public life. Indeed, we can assume that Thomas felt comfortable making those comments on tape because such beliefs are already widely accepted by her political circle. She didn’t consider them beyond the pale because she hears them all the time.

Thomas, then, is but the tip of the iceberg or, more aptly, the tip of the shark’s dorsal fin just breaking the surface of the water. Whatever metaphor we choose, she is a harbinger of how ugly things are going to get. She is the dark edge of the gathering storm.

It’s 1938, not 1945. Via AmericanDigest

Comments: We will not stop them and we will not defeat them. Maybe we can slow them down but the trajectory of mankind's demise has been programed by his sin and dark influences. God's intervention only delays the crashing and burning. Sorry to be so negative but this may be the last round and it will get ugly. Find a nice happy place for yourself and hunker down? Better to be out and about as salt and light? Biblically we are on a salt and light assignment. The book of Revelation has a phrase, "Even so come Lord Jesus" and I'm starting to identify with it. Lot was vexed in his soul while living amidst the evil of his day. Who of us today is not vexed in his soul.

Rabbis: Flotilla Clash Similar to Gog and Magog Prophecy

Rabbis: Flotilla Clash Similar to Gog and Magog Prophecy - Defense/Middle East - Israel News - Israel National News
The Rabbinical Council of Judea and Samaria issued a statement Thursday in which it said that the results of the incident in which Israel intercepted a flotilla trying to break the naval blockade of Gaza seem like the Biblical description of "the beginning of the Gog and Magog process where the world is against us, but which ends with the third and final redemption."

The statement explained that while secular Zionism always wants Israel to be beloved by other nations, “the legitimacy of our people is not derived from the nations of the world and their poisonous traditions, rather from the Torah of Israel which teaches us that [Israel] 'is a people that shall dwell alone, and shall not be reckoned among the nations'" (Numbers 23:9). They emphasized that there is no reason to be alarmed by the world's condemnation as it is a predicted result of fear of Israel's success.

Comments: Interesting? Rabbinical reasoning similar to some Christians in America. The Christian right, like the Zionists, want to grab political power. The "faithful" predict persecution and understand the world will hate them. My Bible says it anyway. Patterns and parallels are a favorite tool of the Bible's author - would that be the Holy Spirit?

Here's another pattern I don't hear talked about. Jews were looking for a kick-butt political leader as Messiah when Jesus showed up. What good was a suffering servant under the oppression of the Romans. They missed Him. Some Christians today are looking for the Church to become a conquering hero. She will be a powerful, miracle working, demon casting bride of Christ without spot or wrinkle. The key words are will be. That church will take over in some way and rule the earth. Are they missing the suffering, servant church, still working miracles, casting out devils, and powerful in the way that Jesus (another suffering servant) was powerful. What is it with the bride of Christ becoming without spot or wrinkle? I thought we were cleansed and made new overcoming creatures by the blood of the Lamb and the word of our testimony? Jesus made and makes the bride without spot or wrinkle through His perfect sacrifice. The bride has nothing to do but accept the proposal. Is someone missing the parallel point? Just say "yes".

Oh, and "they loved not their lives unto death". Sorry friends, a takeover is not imminent.

Another Interesting Drudge Page

Is Drudge pro Israel or is the Holy Spirit arranging Drudge's news points?

When Governments "Invent" It Means Tax

EDITORIAL: FTC dodges Drudge Tax questions - Washington Times

Federal Trade Commission (FTC) leaders are attempting to distance themselves from controversial proposals published in a May 24 working paper on "reinventing" the media. The report presents a suite of options through which government could step in and supposedly rescue journalism, most notably by imposing taxes. A fee could be levied on websites such as the Drudge Report that link to the best news of the day, or a tax could be imposed on consumer electronics such as iPads, laptops and Kindles. Funds collected would be redistributed to traditional media outlets. FTC Chairman Jon Leibowitz torpedoed the device tax in testimony Wednesday before a Senate Judiciary subcommittee, saying, "I think that's a terrible idea."

Comments: Notice how government "reinvents" with "taxes". This is the creative side of government. They put their collective minds together, meet and talk and plan and then, after high level discussions, come up with a new idea - taxes. What would we expect? If these yahoos were really talented and/or creative, would they be in government? Well, maybe but the government's only real access to funding is taxes (your money). It sustains their power, lines their pockets, feathers their beds and greases their wheels.

You might think that governments would view life like a business franchisor - the better the franchisee does the better the franchisor does. This must be a concept too deep and difficult for government to get its mind around. Don't kid yourself. Plenty a business franchisor is oblivious to this basic and universal law of the economic universe. Franchisors often attempt to float their boat on the backs of the franchisee. As is often pointed out, the franchisor then goes out of business. The government does not. It just keeps creating and reinventing - new taxes.

Compounding the problem, not everyone in government sees its business as a business. Like a scientist breaking down matter to the smallest elements and discovering the laws of physics appear not to apply at the quantum level, the pixie dust government believes as we go up the economic scale in largess to government levels, the laws of economics do not apply. Such is the case with our current Unicorn Administration and Congress. Oh, that it were only stupidity, but alas it is delusion and no amount of education or experience on earth can cure it.

Hawking Knows Everything (According To Hawking)

Stephen Hawking on Religion: 'Science Will Win' - ABC News
When Sawyer asked if there was a way to reconcile religion and science, Hawking said, "There is a fundamental difference between religion, which is based on authority, [and] science, which is based on observation and reason. Science will win because it works."

Comments: Hawking thinks he knows everything his gigantic ego can grasp. Oh sure, there are some things he doesn't know about science - yet, but he knows science and he knows God - or the absence of God (the Gospel according to Hawking). What if I came up to you and explained everything about your Dad, without ever meeting your Dad. You may call me many things but "right" is not one of them. I know God and I know a little science. Hawking knows nothing about God and a lot about science. Would I be so far wrong to think I am more qualified to speak about the relationship of science to God than Hawking? But hey, we will have to wait for the proof of it all. If he is right, then neither of us have a thing to worry about. If I am right, he is in deep weeds.

Why Does Obama's FTC Want To Save Failing Newspapers?

74% Oppose Taxing Internet News Sites To Help Newspapers - Rasmussen Reports™
The Federal Trade Commission (FTC) is considering several ways to help the struggling newspaper industry, but Americans strongly reject several proposed taxes to keep privately-owned newspapers going.

A new Rasmussen Reports national telephone survey finds that 84% oppose a three percent (3%) tax on monthly cell phone bills to help newspapers and traditional journalism.

Similarly, 76% oppose a proposed five percent tax on the purchase of consumer electronic items such as computers, iPads and Kindles to help support newspapers and traditional journalism. Seventy-four percent (74%) oppose the proposal to tax web sites like the Drudge Report to help the newspapers they draw their headlines from.

Comments: Do we really need to ask why progressive activists want to save progressive media? And then there is the "It's a tax stupid". Any way to redistribute is a good day in Progressive Land.

Newsweek, Christians and the Apocalypse - Lisa Miller Version

Some Say BP's Oil Spill Heralds the Apocalypse - Newsweek
But there’s a problem. In the place where American religion and politics intersect, signs of the end times have traditionally been interpreted by members of the right as punishment for ungodly behavior by those on the left. And because the values of the religious right have mirrored those of the Republican Party—at least before the last presidential election—the "good guys" in the cosmic battle have tended to look like Republicans on the far-right fringe and the “bad guys” like liberal Democrats. Thus Hurricane Katrina was brought down upon New Orleans because it was, in the words of Christian minister John Hagee, a modern-day Sodom and Gomorrah: the city had a gay-pride march planned for the day the storm struck.

Who is Lisa Miller and is she a Christian? The author knows some things about the subject but the above quote shows an obvious whole in her knowledge. First of all their is no monolithic Christian Fundamentalist body. Especially on eschatology their time lines are scattered. But one thing of which I am quite sure. They believe that judgments from God affect the righteous. Fundamentalist are by nature big on judgment. They are also big on the Old Testament. The times Israel was judged both good and bad suffered. Was not Daniel taken into captivity, for instance. I have been in or around Christianity of many flavors and kinds all my life. Never have I heard that when and if God's judgment is poured out on America, the Christians will go on living the life of Riley. An often quoted phrase is, "Judgment begins with the house of God". Write about any subject you wish lady but expect people to recognize your short comings when you are truly uninformed.

Use common sense. Fundamental Christians struggle hard to have the society operate as they believe is pleasing to God. One reason is to avoid judgment. They explain it that way and keep no secret of it. Billy Graham reportedly once said, "If God does not Judge America, He will have to apologize to Sodom and Gomorrah". Who knows if he said it but the statement is in keeping with the attitudes of Christian Fundamentalist. Christians do believe that God can preserve his people through all trials. Be that as it may, trials and tribulation are still trials and tribulation. Christians believe they benefit from these trials and the Bible says as much, but few are lining up for the lessons. Then Ms. Miller goes on to quote the Christian fisherman believing the Bible tells him they will go through hardships. And she can not see her own faulty "christian" reasoning. So what is it? Does God's judgment only fall on Democrats or everybody? Make up your mind. She naturally points out these are "fringe" Christians. Listen up baby ... the born again contingency world wide believes more in line with your "fringe" Christians. Most of us have no idea what that oil spill is all about but we do notice it. And with everything else that is happening in the world our Christian ears are listening and we are looking up.

The Escape factor for Christians arrives on the scene for those who believe that Jesus Christ will "rapture" or supernaturally remove the Church from the earth before the final judgments. Christians disagree as to when on the escatological time line this will happen. Some don't believe in it at all but those may be more of the institutional or social Christian flavor. Gee, did I offend anyone? Even some of those are "saved". Opps, I did it again.

So what is Ms. Miller's agenda? Let's look.
Yet through a biblical lens, it’s hard to see the oil spill as anything but God’s punishment for greed and a disrespect of Creation—and both of those sins fall mostly on the shoulders of the Republicans, who have been aggressively lobbying for more offshore drilling, without, obviously, ensuring that appropriate safeguards are in place. (Remember “Drill, baby, drill”? According to OpenSecrets.org, Republicans in the last decade have far outstripped Democrats in donations from big oil, sometimes by a factor of four.) So the question for biblical literalists becomes one of political alliances. Does God wreak apocalyptic wrath on members of one’s own party—or only on the opposition?
Now I get it. Ms Miller is preaching the Gospel according to Ted Turner (aka Mouth from the South). She is a Gaia worshiper, Mother earth and all that. I wonder if she caries crystals to keep her energies in tune with the Universe. Ms. Miller may be better suited to writing articles on New Age ... Hey, the U.N. would eat them up.

I'll bet it took every inch of Ms. Miller's strength to not mention Sarah Palin and I suppose she feels ultimate stealth by not doing so. But she just had to use, “Drill, baby, drill”. Oh, she just couldn't help herself.

Lisa Miller is NEWSWEEK's religion editor - go figure. And what religion is that?

Further Understanding of Gaza Blockade Flurry

Liberal media can always be counted upon to "report" a Hamas/Hezbollah slant.

I'm Not Looking Forward To It - But It May Come To This

Build a Simple Off-Grid Laundry Machine

While I'm not about to trade in my high-efficiency washer and dryer for a manual off-grid laundry machine, this simple design is perfect for building a cheap and effective washer for campgrounds, cabins, and other remote locations.

There is a lot of off-grid talk these days. If those lunatics in Washington keep up the current pace we may all have serious life changes. (Don't throw those old copies of Mother Earth News) So now we have clothes washing covered at least.

Gog and Magog

Is flotilla battle signaling start of 'Gog and Magog'?

A council of rabbis in Israel says their nation's conflict with Turkey over a flotilla of "aid" ships headed for the blockaded Gaza Strip controlled by the terrorist Hamas organization just may be the beginning of the "Gog and Magog process where the world is against us, but which ends with the third and final redemption."

The announcement comes today from the Rabbinical Council of Judea and Samaria, whose statement was reported by Israel National News.

WND columnist Greg Laurie just months ago explained the biblical reference to Gog and Magog, in the book of Ezekiel, as a prophecy that a "large force," will attack Israel from the north.

Gee Paul, saying the word "library" makes you sound so smart

Let's look at dear Paul's educational history from Wikipedia: "McCartney later took his A-level exams, but passed only one subject—Art." And yes, President Bush has a degree from Yale. So Paul is impressing the same few folks he always impresses, those who don't know better. I would stick to writing songs because you definitely can't sing and speaking provides a bleak outlook for your future.

As someone said, at least Bush was smart enough to not marry some gold digger who would take him for 48.7 mil. Sure, you must be able to do something to earn so much, possibly luck early on played a part (timing is everything), or maybe you are supported by Lucifer (the most likely scenario). But I am not, was not and never will be impressed by you. Now that smart woman who took you for 48.7 mil, that's a different story.

Oh, look, let's hope he is waving good bye.

Be sure to check out Paul's extensive drug use on his Wikipedia page, an inspiration to us all.

Jews - "Get Out Of Israel and Go Back Where You Came From"

Can you imagine such a deteriorating relationship between Israel and the United States under a Republican administration? And yet Jewish voters eat up the Democratic party. It is difficult not to say "good, they get what they deserve". But the people in danger are not the complacent and apparently out of touch and comfortable Jews voting in America. Yet, sadly there are socialist Jews aplenty in Israel. But they don't deserve the treatment they are receiving from this current bunch in the U.S. administration. Maybe my Egyptian friend is correct and Israel is so strong they have nothing to worry about. I am not convinced.

But I say keep Helen Thomas around. She is likely speaking for the administration with a clarity they would be unwilling to indulge. Ms. Thomas is speaking for someone and it is far broader than one cranky old woman.

On a side note this reminds me of the Red Fox bit when he was told to go back where he came from. And he replied, "You want me to move to Detroit?"

Perhaps We Should Dust Off Our Pat Buchanan for President Buttons

Mexico opens California office to provide ID for illegals | Washington Examiner
The Mexican government is opening a satellite consular office on Catalina Island -- a small resort off the California coast with a history of drug smuggling and human trafficking -- to provide the island's illegal Mexican immigrants with identification cards, The Washington Examiner has learned.

Gaza Blockade - Any Reasonable Person Can See What Is Happening

Krauthammer: Those troublesome Jews
The world is outraged at Israel's blockade of Gaza. Turkey denounces its illegality, inhumanity, barbarity, etc. The usual U.N. suspects, Third World and European, join in. The Obama administration dithers.
This Story

But as Leslie Gelb, former president of the Council on Foreign Relations, writes, the blockade is not just perfectly rational, it is perfectly legal. Gaza under Hamas is a self-declared enemy of Israel -- a declaration backed up by more than 4,000 rockets fired at Israeli civilian territory. Yet having pledged itself to unceasing belligerency, Hamas claims victimhood when Israel imposes a blockade to prevent Hamas from arming itself with still more rockets.

In World War II, with full international legality, the United States blockaded Germany and Japan. And during the October 1962 missile crisis, we blockaded ("quarantined") Cuba. Arms-bearing Russian ships headed to Cuba turned back because the Soviets knew that the U.S. Navy would either board them or sink them. Yet Israel is accused of international criminality for doing precisely what John Kennedy did: impose a naval blockade to prevent a hostile state from acquiring lethal weaponry.

Oh, but weren't the Gaza-bound ships on a mission of humanitarian relief? No. Otherwise they would have accepted Israel's offer to bring their supplies to an Israeli port, be inspected for military materiel and have the rest trucked by Israel into Gaza -- as every week 10,000 tons of food, medicine and other humanitarian supplies are sent by Israel to Gaza.

H1N1 vs Conspiracy Buffs

Reports accuse WHO of exaggerating H1N1 threat, possible ties to drug makers
European criticism of the World Health Organization's handling of the H1N1 pandemic intensified Friday with the release of two reports that accused the agency of exaggerating the threat posed by the virus and failing to disclose possible influence by the pharmaceutical industry on its recommendations for how countries should respond.

The WHO's response caused widespread, unnecessary fear and prompted countries around the world to waste millions of dollars, according to one report. At the same time, the Geneva-based arm of the United Nations relied on advice from experts with ties to drug makers in developing the guidelines it used to encourage countries to stockpile millions of doses of antiviral medications, according to the second report.

Comments: This is unlikely to be mainstream news anytime soon. But to conspiracy buffs, it is vindication. They were blowing the whistle on H1N1 hype all along. I say score one for the Buffs. Actually not only the Buff community was sounding the alarm. But no one in the "main stream" was listening. Why? Because "science" was speaking. Science was being bought off, more like it, or just not daring to stray from the stampeding herd.

200 Years From Now - What Would They Think

Would they determine from this clip (in the time capsule) that Nancy Pelosi was a Christian Fundamentalist? Actually they would view her a a bumbling idiot. The phrase "don't try this at home" comes to mind. But how do Christians view her now?

Michelle Malkin has an opinion:
What Would Jesus Do? Vote Against Nancy Pelosi, For Starters

I tend to agree with Ms. Malkin but then again I only know Ms. Pelosi's political persona. True, I don't much like it. I guess Ms. Pelosi and I will just have to agree to disagree about at least some parts of Christianity. But I do agree we will all have to give an account. I wonder if she will convince the Catholics that abortion has God's approval? I'm a little shocked at hearing her even mention "the word". Is this more than political pandering to a specific group. Maybe we will know her by her "fruit" as "the word" says.

‘Millions’ of Frogs Force Closure of Highway in Greece - Wheels Blog - NYTimes.com
As if the political and economic tumult wasn’t enough to rattle the people of Greece, little frogs — “millions,’ according to the police chief of Thessaloniki, Giorgos Thanoglou — closed one of the country’s major highways for more than two hours on Wednesday, according to The Associated Press.

How Is Your Pension Looking?

FOXBusiness.com - The Next Bailout: $165B for Unions

A Democratic senator is introducing legislation for a bailout of troubled union pension funds. If passed, the bill could put another $165 billion in liabilities on the shoulders of American taxpayers.

The bill, which would put the Pension Benefit Guarantee Corporation behind struggling pensions for union workers, is being introduced by Senator Bob Casey, (D-Pa.), who says it will save jobs and help people.

Comments: Things are tough. We are all in this together except Government and Union workers. They seem protected by our government. Are you getting sick of this crap? When the government decides "some" need help they take it from those who "don't" need help. So the guy who worked for lower wages or ran a business or was in management has to give to the union/government Mafioso. What if the we lose our job or business? No help for you. All in a day's work.

Syria has 1,000 ballistic missiles zeroed on Israeli targets

DEBKAfile, Political Analysis, Espionage, Terrorism, Security
The colossal Syrian-Hizballah missile deployment funded by Iran points in only one direction: Israel. It is controlled from a joint Iran-Syria-Hizballah-Hamas command center established in March at Syrian GHQ in Damascus for attacking Israeli military and civilian sites organized in four sectors.
Syria's production lines have been humming for five months converting its missiles from liquid-fuel to the more accurate solid-fuel ballistic missiles with the help of North Korean experts.

Comments: Unless Israel is forced into some deal by the Pro-Palestinian Obama Administration, the world is in for a major blow up. I suspect that instead of forcing Israel into a capitulating corner and thereby placating Muslims into accepting a divided Jerusalem, the Muslims will be unable to resist going for the gold by attacking Israel with their new armaments. Politically cornered and missile devastated, Israel's response may be life changing for all of us. There may be a more sophisticated chess match going on but in this case the pawns have minds and emotions of their own. If Hamas and Hizballah believe their own braggadocio, things will get interesting.

"Bitter Half On Court Ordered Inactive Status" (And why have we not heard this?)

The Left - Watch What They Do, Not What They Say !: Michelle Obama Loses Law License

Did you know that our First Lady Michelle Obama lost her law license back in 1993? Oh sure I knew that, “NOT.” Sure, I saw this on the front page of the New York Times during the elections of 2008, “NOT.” I've listed below from the State of Illinois’s website of the court action against Michelle forcing her to give up her license. It’s understood that in the box attacked below under Malpractice Insurance – “No malpractice report required as attorney is under court order inactive status.”

Admit it, this is at least interesting.
